It's a Hard Knock Life

NOT!!

...not really anyways :)

The weekend could not come soon enough and it started out right - with some thingamajig that work decided to host. Took some pics obviously because they were so pretty and I wanna make you envious.

Ten bucks for guessing where I stood the entire night?? Heh

***

The Saturday was filled with yum cha-ing with some Americans, doing some blissful girly shopping, more eating/filling my second stomach and pretending to be all refined and cultured. Again, not really.

A. craved for some yum cha and insisted we went to Zilver again - and K's mum was around too so we brought them along just because we're nice and hospitable like that.
Fact.

Spent the rest of the lazy afternoon doing some stress-free girly shopping as the husband was not around to bug J about going home to catch the F1 race that was on. Went to Chatswood just because we've been meaning to try out the new Asian dessert place - ZenQ.

P/S: This was shortly after just finishing a whole table full of dim sum and dessert!!! Plight of being girls with bottomless pitts for stomachs.
 Fact.

The friends were intrigued at what QQ pearls and taro balls were - so being the overly zealous person when it comes to ordering food, I got one dish per section of the menu - well almost.

BTW, we were all gobsmacked by the thing they call 'Chocolate Banana Honey Toast'.
I swear the name does not do it justice.

It's this massive chunk of toast - carved out neatly on the inside with these perfect baby cubes of more toasts - like little thick toast fries - drizzled in honey and chocolate cream!!!
 :) :) Yum yum yum
It's adorable that they had instructions on the menu on how to eat this monster of a thing!

And then for the grand finale, we went to Lyric Theatre for ANNIE!! <3s!!!

The timeless tale of Little Orphan Annie is back giving a whole new generation the chance to experience this classic musical about never giving up hope. Boasting one of Broadway's most memorable scores, including It's the Hard-Knock Life, Easy Street, N.Y.C. and the ever-optimistic Tomorrow, ANNIE is one of the most awarded and loved musicals of all time.

Did not plan to coordinate outfit.  Promise and cross my heart.

Anyhoos, woke up the next morning feeling funny - like REALLY not well.

But again as it was a really good day outside, I ignored the symptoms and went out to Fountain St cafe just to catch up with the couz.

Lunch for champions - sourdough with butter and marmalade and juice - apparently things that you do not take when having a bad case of stomach flu.

So while the pretty little lady looked like this:

And that's not the worst pic.

This is one that was surreptitiously taken - definitely caught me off guard

Le sigh. No judgement please, I've heard them all.

But you do not understand.

I was really weak and had no energy so I needed my leg to support my upper body in order to read the magazine!!!!

FACT!

maybe :)

Les Bon Vivants

We went for Taste of Sydney the past weekend,  thanks to Z for complimentary tickets - yay to free entry! And the cherry to top off the day was the perfect weather for our epicurean Saturday delight!! It was dreary and raining days before that they even had to cancel the opening night of the fest.

It's an annual food festival really - with little pop--up restaurants of some of Sydney's finest - like Longrain, Effendy, Quarter Twenty One, Sake to name a few.

We couldn't shy away from having a share of the free goodies, could we? Well at least J couldn't.
** being all kiasu and taking 3 whole tubs of greek yogurt - pretends to not know her**

We were definitely overindulging with wagyu burgers, quesadilla,  baked lamb meatballs with eggplant, baklavas, casarecce pasta, Turkish ice cream and gelato, and Adriano's chocolate tart as well as delightful chocolate and salted caramel choux to wash it all off!!

OMG - how do we fit so so so much in our stomachs????!!!

Yet we ask ourselves why we never lose weight  -__-''

Btw, we had late lunch of Shanghainese pan fried dumplings just an hour before the event. FML.

Being the narcissists that we are, and the fact that J lugged her super huge ass camera out just for the day, we took advantage of the sunshine and the cool breeze and got shutter happy :)

Discovery of the day ---> J cant cross her eyes!!!! At all! Trust me, we tried!

So weird! I've never met anyone who couldn't.
Have you?

It's true what they say about weekends flying by too quickly cos we were having so much fun!! Back to maniac work week then.

Toodle-loos.

Scampi Earrings

Tadah...........check out the latest accessories craze! :P

It's been a while since we've been to the Fish Market so we made a date out of it on Saturday. And because M had a big craving for fresh prawns!

I did all the work and Z lifted no fingers in enjoying the prawns.

And of course.........no meal is complete without dessert! We headed to Kurtosh for some Hungarian goodies to fill our second stomach.

Tiramisu, Cheesecake and Strawberry Shortcake galore.

P/S: This was all while we were coerced by Z to watch Paranormal Activity 3. Clearly, we were watching from behind pillows for the length of the film while Z commentated the story - can't help ourselves for being curious chicken shits ;)

A whole lot of RED & A whole lot of FAT.....

It all started with talks of Red Velvets (All Time Favourite of M!) at Friday dinner. And we spontaneously decided to try baking to occupy our weekend.

Y'know how they say you don't wanna know what goes into the making of any yummilicious guilty pleasures - well, let's just say we ain't counting calories!

We researched and youtube-ed some red velvet recipes and we thought we'd wing it and make it up as we go. As far as noobs go, we didn't do too badly ourselves! ;)

RED VELVET ........... YUMZZZZ!

Since we had some leftover ingredients, we whipped up a batch of chocolate chip cookie dough for some equally "guilt-free" goodies. Seriously.............who are we kidding?!??

The boys loved it!! *pats on backs*

Till next time......................................
